We will only use the personal data gathered through the Acorn as set out in this policy. Below you will find information on how we use your personal data, for which purposes your personal data is used, with whom it is shared and what control and information rights you may have.

Our Acorn solution is an age-friendly smart tablet and associated companion mobile application designed to enable those with limited digital technology skills to be fully empowered and engaged online. The following summary provides you with a quick overview of the processing activities that are undertaken on personal data when providing these services. You will find more detailed information under the indicated sections below.

  • In case you register for one of our services, further personal data will be processed in the scope of such services (see III and IV).
  • Your personal data may be disclosed to third parties (see IV) that might be located outside your country of residence; potentially, different data protection standards may apply (see V).
  • We have implemented appropriate safeguards to secure your personal data (see VI) and retain your personal data only as long as necessary (see VII).
  • Under the legislation applicable to you, you may be entitled to exercise certain rights with regard to the processing of your personal data (see VIII).

When using the Acorn service the following categories of personal data are collected

  • Information regarding your usage may be collected (times of use, frequency of use of features and other statistics) and used to provide and improve the service.
  • Error log data may also be stored on the device and uploaded. This log data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing our Service.

Your personal data may be disclosed to third parties. We employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:

  • To facilitate our Service;
  • To provide the Service on our behalf;
  • To perform Service-related services; or
  • To assist us in analyzing how our Service is used.

 

V. Cross border data transfers

Within the scope of our information sharing activities set out above, your personal data may be transferred to other countries (including countries outside the EEA) which may have different data protection standards from your country of residence. You should bear in mind that submission of information over the internet is never entirely secure. We cannot guarantee the security of information you submit whilst it is in transit over the internet and any such submission is at your own risk.
